Synger for Herren en ny sang

Music is an integral part of our heritage at Mindekirken.  Mindekirken's church choir sings often in Norwegian but also performs other works.

In addition to local talent, concerts and programs are performed occasionally by Norwegian musicians who are on tour in the United States.

The Mindekirken Choir is a dedicated and welcoming group of individuals who love to share their musical talents to the glory of God. The choir provides meditative and worshipful music for the first three or four Sunday services of each month. (The choir generally does not sing on "Family Sunday," the last Sunday of each month.) In addition, the choir sings for occasional special services during Lent and Advent. The choir has also presented a "Choir-Soloist Concert" that includes both choral selections and instrumental and vocal solo and chamber music.

Our repertoire, which is chosen to reflect the season and themes of the church year, includes sacred music from many periods and styles. While most of our repertoire is sung in either Norwegian or English, we also occasionally sing pieces in other languages, including German, French, Latin, and other Scandinavian languages. During the Leiv Eriksson International Festival, which takes place every October, the choir prepares pieces in Swedish, Danish, and Icelandic. No prior experience in these languages is necessary!

Rehearsals are held Thursday evenings from 7:00 - 8:30 pm during the school year. Youth in eighth grade and older, and adults of any age are encouraged to join! All voice types and levels of experience are welcome, including those who are unable to commit to singing every Sunday. For more information, contact choirdirector@mindekirken.org
