Topic: Woodturning from Norway to America 
Presenter: Phil Holtan
Phil Holtan is a life long woodturner, of Norwegian descent, who loves to learn, turn, and share about the roots of turning in the
Scandinavian countries. He will share history of Scandinavian woodturning and introduce you to some modern Norse turners.
Phil Holtan grew up in the woods along the Winnebago River, north of Forest City, IA, one of 8 children, 7 sons, of Stan and Ruth, farmers, weavers and carvers.
"I worked with my hands and became a craftsman and woodworker. I have had a rich career as a pastor, but have always managed to find time to work with my hands to create and tell stories with wood. Phil has also been a Lutheran pastor, campus pastor at
Concordia College in Moorhead . He has taught turning to over 1500 students over 40 years, and helped start 3 woodturning clubs.
